What will therapy be like?

Currently, all therapy will be offered virtually to allow for care to be provided safely to all clients.

Therapy sessions are 50 minutes long and typically, I meet with clients once a week, though this can vary based on client’s needs. The focus of our sessions will vary depending on your treatment goals. One of my priorities as a clinician is listening to a client and learning why they are seeking therapy at this time and what they hope to get out of therapy. As we build our relationship in therapy, we will continue to work together on the goals you identify. Throughout this process, I will continually strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore and work through any challenges that may arise.

Depending on your goals, I may integrate techniques from my training in CBT, DBT, and ACT. More information on those treatment modalities is below.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy is an evidence-based treatment for depression and anxiety. CBT focuses on how our thoughts, behaviors, and emotions are all interconnected. Through the use of thought techniques and behavioral changes, we can work together to help change these cycles.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Based around the dialectic of acceptance and change, DBT provides skills to help people engage more effectively with other people, live in the present moment, tolerate their distress, and more effectively manage unpleasant emotions.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

With a focus on acceptance of the present moment, ACT helps clients to commit towards behaviors that are in line with their values. Through the use of ACT techniques, I will help you to explore your own values and what might be getting in the way of choosing value-aligned behaviors.
