About Me

Thank you for visiting Mary Kelly Psychotherapy, located in Chicago, IL.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Chicago, IL. I completed my undergraduate education at the University of Notre Dame, majoring in Psychology and Science Pre-Professional Studies. After working in marketing research for many years in Chicago, I went back to school at Loyola Chicago to obtain my Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work, with a specialization in mental health.

Since finishing my MSW, I have worked with adult-aged clients struggling with symptoms of mood and anxiety disorders. Through this work, I have helped younger adults navigate struggles that arise as they transition into adulthood and have helped adults of all ages tackle the many challenges that can arise throughout the lifespan. I love working with adults and helping them to reconnect with themselves and their worth, guiding them towards living a more meaningful life in line with their values. I firmly believe in the change that can come from accepting where we are in life and being kind to ourselves through that process.

In therapy sessions, I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to explore their emotions, defenses, and inner selves. I use a strengths-based approach to my work with individuals, helping them to recognize the strengths that they have and to use these to work towards their goals. I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I integrate techniques from all three into my therapeutic practice, teaching clients skills to help them behave in value-aligned ways and build a life worth living.
